Being refugees in Province
Montceau-les-Mines is a town located in Bourgogne Franche-Comté with just under 18,000 inhabitants. In our perceptions, perhaps typically Parisian, we tend to think that the reception of refugees is centralized in the Île-de-France region.
The photographic documentary I began creating in this town in October 2021 aims to show a different reality.
The infrastructure and resources available are not the same, of course, but nonetheless, associations fight daily to ensure that these populations are welcomed with as much dignity as possible.
This is true for the association Humanity and its amazing team.
It is also largely thanks to Anwar, a young man who had just received refugee status, that I was able to start my documentary. He was my guide throughout the town during these five days.
The second part of this documentary is expected to begin in early 2022.
